FESTIVE 4TH

Hope you all had a fabulous 4th of July !  Many people are off today on the 5th - however I am working today.  So I thought I'd pop in and say hello and show you some photos of where we spent our 4th holiday.

My folks live on a beautiful lake about 50 miles south of us.  It is so pleasant down there - fun to perch on their porch high above the lake and watch the boats pulling skiers and hear the constant drone of the jet skis.  they always have a great fireworks display - a neighbor of my parents pulls a float out in the lake and sets off about 15 minutes of fireworks - nothing to compare to NYC or the Capital celebration but fireworks over water are gorgeous no matter where you happen to be.  We prepared all our side dishes on Saturday so we could sit on the porch and stitch all afternoon.  We were blessed with cool breezes and temps only in the 80's which made a pleasant afternoon.  Here are a few shots of the lake from our vantage point.

Here's my dad putting out a woodpecker cake - I love watching all the birds come to their feeding station.

Here is a shot of mom stitching - not sure why it came out like this but it was interesting.

Jody relaxing and enjoying the view

I was going to show some shots of our stitching but the lighting was just not that great so I'll just make this post about our little family 4th of July celebration.  It's times like these to be cherished and enjoyed.

A couple of stunning shots of the sunset to close this post

Let freedom ring !

What a beautiful location! I can see why your mother and dad love it out there so much. A view like that is well worth the drive!

Wow! Much more relaxing than our fourth, which was spent calming a wiener dog that was hysterical over fireworks... Glad you had a good one!

Mel it looks like a wonderful place!! I bet it was a great relaxing time! Hubs was just saying last night he wanted to take me to Florida for a 4th of July so I can see the fireworks over the water. Says that was the best fireworks show he ever saw! Enjoy your day off!

Thanks for sharing the pictures. Your folks' house at the lake looks so restful. So nice you got to spend the day stitching.
The weather is Florida sounds better than the 90+ degree weather we are having, but your humidity is probably worse than ours.
The firework display over Lake Erie was wonderful, too.
Pug hugs :)

Thanks for sharing your 4th of July. What a gorgeous place! The fireworks must have looked amazing over the water. Anything near water, lake or ocean, just takes my breath away.

Love all your pictures Mel! It was nice to see one of your parents and Jody. It looks so wonderful there - so serene! A perfect place to stitch in my opinion. I always go out to the lake for the 4th too - a small town that my in-laws live in, and they have the fireworks over the water. It's always so much fun and I'll take the small town feel over the big town any day!

Melody: You have a mother that stitches too, just like Bethany. I know she was glad to have you home for a few hours. The view was perfect and I loved the fact your Dad feeds the birds. JoAnn
